AI-Enhanced Simulation for Advanced Cardiac Surgery Training
Goals
Our team investigates how artificial intelligence and advanced simulation technologies can improve training for complex cardiac surgeries. We aim to develop intelligent, immersive simulation tools that enhance surgical precision, decision-making, and patient safety.
Cardiac surgery is one of the most technically demanding areas in medicine, requiring years of specialized training and practice. Traditional training methods often rely on limited real-world cases and cadaver models, which do not fully capture the variety of patient anatomies or surgical challenges.
Our team’s purpose is to design and implement an AI-driven surgical simulation platform that provides realistic, adaptive, and interactive training environments for cardiac surgeons. By integrating artificial intelligence, virtual/augmented reality, and patient-specific data, we aim to create simulations that replicate the complexity of real operations while offering safe, repeatable practice opportunities. Students will have the chance to contribute to an interdisciplinary project at the intersection of medicine, engineering, and AI innovation.
