Hack Arizona: The Premier Hackathon in the Southwestern United States

Goals

The Hack Arizona team plans, implements, evaluates, and innovates the premier Hackathon in the Southwestern United States. Team members can pick and gain valuable program and event planning experience from four planning focus areas including Marketing, Logistics and Operations, Sponsorship and Fundraising, and Technology Support.

Issues Involved or Addressed

Hack Arizona is a student-driven hackathon event at the University of Arizona, designed to empower students to innovate, learn, and connect. During this fast-paced collaborative event, participants come together to create impactful projects, develop new skills, and tackle real-world challenges in technology and beyond. Hack Arizona welcomes students from all disciplines, offering hands-on workshops, insightful speaker sessions, and engaging challenges tailored to drive innovative thinking to solve the world's most pressing problems.

By joining the Hack Arizona Planning team, you will gain real world experience in event planning, event management, and event innovation. You will learn the art and science of coordinating logistics, fundraising, marketing, managing budgets, and program evaluation. Student team members are responsible for the entire planning and implementation of the Hack Arizona hackathon event while receiving guidance and mentorship from UA staff members.

Preferred Interests and Preparation

Skills: Undergraduate students with an interest or experience in program and event planning, event implementation, and/or evaluation, especially as that intersects with solving real world engineering, technology, and science challenges.

Attributes: A desire and willingness to learn new skills especially as it relates to program and event planning, implementation, and evaluation in the areas of Marketing, Logistics and Operations, Sponsorship and Fundraising, and Technology Support.

  • Accepts students at the start of each semester.
  • Only accepts undergraduate students.
  • This team recruits students for both credit and Federal Work-Study.
