Dr. Bryan Carter invited to help launch Centre for Digital Humanities at North-West University in South Africa

The Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) was established by North-West University's Faculty of Humanities on September 19 as part of the Spring School Program with the theme "Rethinking humanities: Research in the age of AI." Scholars spoke at the event, including Professor Paul Arthur on digital representations of migration and slavery and Professor Bryan Carter on the influence of AI on research. Workshops on AI applications across a range of domains and a panel discussion featuring Prof. Janelize Morelli highlighting the importance of digital humanities for sustainable futures marked its conclusion. In order to improve employability and cultivate collaborations, the CDH focuses on multimedia storytelling, ethical digital heritage, and closing the digital divide. The launch of the CDH was hailed by Prof. Morelli as a major milestone in interdisciplinary research, emphasizing the role that technology plays in promoting human-centered digital innovation.
